This website-in-progress grew out of a series of seminars that were offered in 2020-21 by Paula Gaetano-Adi and Avishek Ganguly, two professors at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), Providence, USA, as part of the Decolonial Teaching in Action program of the Center for Social Equity and Inclusion at their institution. It was designed as a reading community for peers, an idea that seemed to be a logical extension of the many informal discussions, readings, and course ideas around post- and decolonial thinking that Paula and Avishek have shared over the years. We would like to thank the participants of the seminars for stimulating conversations and for sharing their insights on the readings. The site also benefited from research and web design by Elena Kalkova, a graduate student in the MA in Global Arts and Cultures at RISD.

#DecolonizingTheImaginationSyllabus is intended as a free resource for academics, activists, citizens and non-citizens. It is inspired by and hopes to be in dialogue with other collective projects of public syllabi making such as #PRSyllabus, Global Social Theory, #StandingRockSyllabus, #CharlestonSyllabus, Indigenous Abolitionist Study Guide, #ImmigrationSyllabus, #TrumpSyllabus2.0 and#IslamophobiaIsRacismSyllabus.
